I have been freelance for a year and this is what I’ve learned

I’m very glad it’s going so well for you. Possibly my favourite thing about being freelance is no one can sack you. Well, not really. Not in the sense of a losing-all-your-work-and-income-in-one-go-please-put-your-stuff-in-a-box-and-leave sacking. (Not, I should add, that that ever happened to me in my pre-freelance days, luckily.) That gives a strange, counter-intuitive sense of security.

Being freelance is also incredibly helpful if you have children. In fact, I don’t know how other people do it.
