And while many companies do act on CSR purely out of self interest, that may not necessarily indicate unfavorable or inferior motives. Indeed for CSR programs to be truly sustainable, particularly amongst publicly traded companies, some sense of tangible benefit to the business must be proven in conjunction with a measurable social and/or environmental impact. Think of it as a win-win, in an ideal scenario.
