I’ll be honest with you: globalization has come to stay. So, the fears about the increasing impact it would have on the way we do business are no longer necessary. Anyone who is serious about growing a business shouldn’t be afraid of globalization.

Whether we like it or not, we live at a time when businesses must develop international influence or else they will be wiped out by the competition.

Yes, the business world is now more competitive than it has ever been. In almost every industry, it is now hard to maintain monopoly for a long time.

Because most of the world’s population now operate in a global economy that is largely virtual; many barriers have been broken. Barriers, which were initially created by currency, geography, cultural differences, education and even social status, have been thrown out.

At present, anyone with access to the internet can come up with an idea, create a business system around it and disrupt an entire industry, while sitting within the four walls of a small dormitory.

Isn’t it amazing that someone with a great idea or product can sell to anyone across the world? Yes, the internet has created a global economy, which can easily help a poor little lad like Khabane “Khaby” Lame, a Senegalese-born Italian, rise from obscurity to fame, wealth and influence without saying a word!

From what we see in today’s global economy, the conventional idea that businesses must kick-start with business plans, capital and all other structures has now been disproved. Not all businesses have to go through that.

In today’s business world, “ideas” are the main thing. In an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, you will get to the top, if you can come up with the right idea. This means, if you want to stand out in the midst of competition, you must be willing to go against the conventional wisdom in your industry.

Now, this has to do with your thought process. To survive in any industry, you must be willing to think in a radical way. To put it simply, you should be interested in ideas that I haven’t been tested. In other words, be innovative. You will get to the top of your field when you can do what others haven’t done.
