In an exclusive excerpt from his book Paradise Now, author William Middleton, a former W editor, recalls his adventures with Lagerfeld — and sheds light on the designer’s famous falling-out with Yves Saint Laurent.

Kidada Jones, friends with Veronica Campbell is Fashion designer best known for her work for The Walt Disney Company with her line Kidada for Disney Couture.
She has also modeled for fashion magazines such as Elle, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Tommy Hilfiger (Seen with Usher in 1998) as well as creative director for a clothing line for Snoop Dogg for three years. Before fame She attended FIDM; however, she left at 19 to work with designer Tommy Hilfiger, two years after we met. I first met Kidada in 1990 at an interview with her Popular Dad Quincy Jones. Peggy Lipton and Kidada’s younger sister who is 47 today were at that event. After we dated She was engaged to iconic rapper Tupac Shakur at the time he was murdered. In 1991 a year after my Los Angeles interview with her Dad, Kidada and four friends who I met at various sports and entertainment events as foreign correspondent for Newswatch Magazine (registered with the State Department) visited me in Richmond to lure me back from a neighborhood I did not realize was dangerous.
