Great article. One thing that I don’t understand from the example is that ‘neighborhood’ is not a number. So when you say price += neighborhood * 1.0 what value are you putting for neighborhood? I realize that the example is made-up to illustrate how things work, but I’m curious how people deal with variables like that in the real world. Would you in fact have a different variable for each neighborhood and a 1 or a 0 for yes/no as to whether it is that neighborhood? or perhaps just two variables: latitude and longitude? :)
