This is crazy. I understand that you too had to put up with poor pay and a less than ideal living situation. The fact that lots of people have to do the same doesn’t make it OK. Don’t validate the existence of inequality by describing it as paying your dues. Who are we paying these dues to? What did that person do that gives them the right to decide how and when you earn a decent wage?
