We Don’t Need More Designers Who Can Code

Having worked on both the design and development sides of the industry, I’ve come to realise that “designers need to learn how to code” is usually a polite way of saying “will you stop creating designs that are a pain in the a** to code/require billable hours way beyond the scope of the project”.
I’ve found it’s often more about designers understanding the limitations of code — and designing to them — rather than them expecting them to do any part of their job.
