Astonishing

Bob Oq’s point succinctly states my feeling. Whether you are right or wrong, your statements are too similar to the aggressive style embodied by Trump. They are mean spirited and infantile. Your current contributions seem to highlight the dark side of the public forum.

You may criticize someone for his or her point of view but grow and rise above name-calling. Your behavior towards your opponents is not impressive. Some of your comments are just childish. In the end, your style of debating will convince the choir but not the congregation.

I can’t even say whether Beard’s view or Pigliucci’s is correct or not. However, I have read Beard’s book SPQR. I found it a worthwhile read that repeated some things I already knew and provided me with some new insights and knowledge.

Personally, I think a genetic view of history would be interesting to read as long as it is not written for a body of academic elite with little interest in contributing to the spread of truth and knowledge. I would love to read about the contribution of genetics to understanding history.

If you would actually be interested in debating, it would be wonderful. But it seems that you are only interested in settling a score and firing up your base — whoever they are!
