Like others here I express gratitude for your article. For me it is a deeply felt gratitude. Your article inspired me to go ahead to engage in learning something new.

Been kind of dragging my heels and procrastinating learning, actually formally learning to program. Well, I have access to Python and plenty of good tutorials on it. I also have a few different books on C.

Know that going such route might seem “cookie cutter” and banal, as though it is “something you need to do to get by”. In my case it is and is not. Yes, I could stand to make a career from programming, earn an income, it would help our life situation greatly. No, I’m not learning to do simply for the money.

I enjoy piddling with computers when time permits. Most of my life has been spent using hands and back as general labor. Have a general high school education, only. So learning to program for me means expanding my horizons, chasing after a dream in a way.

Again thank you for your article.
