Nailing Down My Niche

Building my brand around specific content

I have gone all in on being a content creator.

I have been writing articles on Medium for a year now. I think my one-year anniversary is literally tomorrow. Two months ago, I made my first social media accounts. About one month ago, I started developing Pursuing Progress, my personal brand.

I started posting image quotes on Instagram.

I began Tweeting.

I posted content on LinkedIn.

I created a Facebook page.

I started a YouTube channel and even a podcast.

Needless to say, I’ve been pretty busy.

While doing research on creating content and posting on social media, I have heard the advice of narrowing down a niche for your content over and over again. Apparently, this advice was a lot more important than I had previously thought.

When I started to hear the advice heavily emphasized by creators that I respected, I started to really take it seriously. Up to this point, I didn’t really know what my niche specifically was, and frankly, I didn’t even want one.

Now I was determined that I needed one. So I sat down and activated my brain.

I needed a category of content that my platforms could revolve around. As of now, I’ve been labeling my brand as a “documentation of my journey,” if that counts as a niche.

I still want to continue doing that, but it’s time to pick a subject, go all in, and publish quality content.

I knew what my niche needed to be after some brainstorming. I thought back to my passion and purpose and decided on one singular, specific topic. I determined to start researching the heck out of this subject and produce content about it on all platforms I was currently on.

My niche is education systems. What they are exactly, what different ones look like, what is working, and what is not.

I will be studying several education models in depth and begin writing a book called “When Public Schools Flunk.” I am going to study our public education system tediously, as well as other models in our nation and even systems in other countries.

I will continue to document and tell a story. That is vital. I will brainstorm creative ways to be tracking my journey to success and chasing my big dream, but now I will began delivering quality content within this niche.

I have made this my craft, and I have set myself on a road to master it. This has given me an area to really double down on and work hard at. I want to become an expert at educational philosophies and curriculum. Therefore, I need to begin investing a lot of time into research.

One thing I need to be doing is collecting as many facts as I can and use theory less in my writing. It’s time to do some cold, hard research consistently and learn everything I can.

I am going to pour my whole heart into this and become passionate like I never have before.

I’m flattered that you’re still reading. I sincerely thank you for your time and attention. If you would like to follow me on my journey, here are that platforms I cam currently on.
