The average. The mean. The same. They mean mostly the same thing; to be in the middle. Being in the middle isn’t necessarily a bad thing in our parents’ generation. Being in the middle meant a stable job, a normal family and a decent standard of living.

In our generation however, being in the middle no longer seems to be a decent proposition. If you are in the middle of a dead end job in a sunset industry where employers everywhere are cutting jobs (think Deutsche Bank) you might be scrambling to think of a back up plan. If you…

Boxer throwing a cross against another.

The startup life isn’t for everyone. Most startup founders live pretty scrappy lives at the start of their careers, often having to put up with low salaries and long hours while they work their guts out on ideas that may not work out in the end after years of toil. Moreover, founding teams have to make do with limited resources and put up with the fog of war (AKA the lack of systems and processes).

Boxing was probably one of the best sports I ever picked up because it trained me to develop focus on the present to get things…

The average human in a first world country takes about 20 years to be integrated into society via education nowadays. The world we live in today is so dynamic and fluid that our occupational roles are almost as flexible as our gender. Given that the label of “talent” is static, however, the same flexibility is not offered to those who are precocious but to those who are adaptable enough to avoid being labelled “talented”. As much as it is a blessing to have your ego…

It is also important to note that disruptive technology may require radically different interfaces compared to traditional, sustaining technologies, thus the methods of production can be different as well.

In this article, I hope to be able to break down the process of designing web / app interfaces during the startup…
