Thanks Jonathan for your feedback and comments. I do agree with you and I think training programs should include more real life problems that would expose students to the entire model building framing, from problem solving to data analysis, model building, testing, and evaluation, and deployment. I have a team of students working on an industrial data science project. It’s such a unique opportunity for them, because they can see first hand the difference between academic training and real world applications. They are learning a lot, and in the end, they will have to verify their model by testing it against real time data.
