It’s not enough to simply do no harm. It’s not enough. So many of the wrongs we face, so many of the intractable issues are there because of the perception that if one is not doing ill, one is doing enough.
But doing nothing is not enough to roll back the darkness, not enough to kindle the light.
Whether it is sexism, racism, or carbon footprint, it is not enough to color inside the lines, not enough to stay where it is safe, not enough to look the other way when all around we see the price others must pay and pay again, and again forever a-men.
