Live TV is Being Gamified

This has been an incredibly exciting year for Caffeine. In just over 10 months, we unveiled our new, easy-to-use social broadcasting platform, released a simple way for broadcasters to earn money from digital items, and announced a $100M investment and a jointly owned studio with 21st Century Fox (21CF).

As we near the end of 2018, I wanted to share one more exciting update. We were recently invited to participate in The Walt Disney Company’s Disney Accelerator program, which included 8 startup companies with the potential to change the landscape of media and entertainment.

At the keynote event for the program, I had the opportunity to share our vision for the future of live television with leaders across The Walt Disney Company. Many were surprised to learn that the vision’s origins were forged by years of playing World of Warcraft, 170 full days of gameplay to be exact, on just a single character. The sort of interaction that’s key to those immersive gaming experiences — the ability to hang out, chat, and laugh with your friends while sharing entertainment that you love — hasn’t found its way to live television. I believe that it will and that this is the future.

As we move into 2019, I wanted to share my story of how this vision came to life. I am proud to be a part of the incredible team at Caffeine as we are paving the way for the future of social broadcasting.

If you haven’t tried Caffeine yet, check it out at or download our iPhone App. Great new broadcasters are joining our incredible community every day and would be happy to welcome you to their communities.
