…t of work. Before, there was just no filter whatsoever. Everything would just come at you directly. So the most impactful change has actually been applying more machine learning to the platform so we can do more of the work [in blocking harassing tweets] and then enable people who want to see everything to take the next step to actually see it. This is very different from our past.
Even Elon Musk had to support his own ventures via the money he earned from PayPal. Had he been a first-time or less-fortunate entrepreneur, SpaceX, Tesla and SolarCity would almost certainly not exist. How many more Elon Musks are out there, struggling to find enough funding to bring their life-changing technologies to fruition? To tackle today’s real problems and change the world, we need to break out of the current cycle. We need to create new forms of capital allocation to adequately finance the development of today’s breakthrough technologies. Our timelines are too short. Not every problem can be solved in 5 years, and the best and quickest exits are most likely not going to save our lives from theoretically preventable diseases, pollution, or aging 20 years down the line.
