I believe a lot more people in ‘red’ areas were voting AGAINST Hillary, rather than FOR Trump. From my time in more rural areas, hanging out in local bars, most people thought Trump was a clown. But people sure made their feeling known about Clinton: they hate her.
Trump is in office because the MSM legitimized his campaign with non-stop coverage. FOX News — which is always on in these sorta places — would cover every second of his speeches. Even kept the camera rolling on an empty podium as he would always be fashionably late.
Trump played the game brilliantly. And Hillary was despised so strongly they didn’t care how bad Trump would be. He feed them empty promises, waving his arms around, giving thirsty people salt water.
I just hope those who voted for Trump realize that there doesn’t have to be a “left” or “right.” There’s a lot more common ground for the vast majority of citizens: protecting the environment, our food and water, fair economics, and maybe even a sliver of democracy.
With my work at VisionForAmerica.com (working on a Medium article for the introduction here) my goal is to begin a campaign of listening. Especially where the map is red. I believe that when we have a chance to really be heard, we can then begin to truly listen — and we can find out that we agree on much more than we realize. At the very least, we can stop letting artificial divdes — stupid labels of “left” or “right” — hold us back from making progress on important issues.
What do Americans REALLY feel about the issues? WE DON’T REALLY KNOW.
Politicans don’t seem to be asking. Or listening. Polls can be skewed — obviously. And misinformation campaigns (often carried out by the MSM) play into this division.
The issue I keep coming back to is listening. We have to actively hear each other.
This the core value for which I am building Vision for America. What’s the big idea here?
YOU TELL ME.
THAT is what this effort is about.
