“And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah” (2 Chronicles 26:1)

The people of Judah made Uzziah as their king when he was just sixteen year old. Since, Uzziah was very young, he would need a proper guidance. Fortunately, the prophet Zechariah guided him and instructed him in the fear of God. So God made Uzziah, to prosper during his reign. He defeated mighty kingdoms, including Philistines. He strengthened the armies of Judah, and built fortified towers. Uzziah also employed skilled men to create machines that can shoot arrows from long distance. So, Uzziah’s fame spread all over the regions and the Ammonites paid tribute to him. Thus he prospered, but soon, king Uzziah’s fame and strength, led him to become proud. He did things that angered the LORD, so the LORD struck him with leprosy. He lived in a separate place until his death! The life of Uzziah teaches us that, we must always remain humble before God and walk in His ways. Truly, God will exalt us. Amen!
