“Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge” (James 4:11)

Since we are all in fallen flesh, it is easy to judge and accuse others. Moreover, people swiftly judge a person based on hearsay without verifying the facts. Hence, James warns that we must not judge or speak evil against others, because as per the Law, all are sinners. He further clarifies, if we judge a person and speak evil against them, we are actually projecting ourselves as the Judge, which means, acting like God! This is a serious mistake one can make. Hence, before judging someone, we must see our own shortcomings. Even if we hear about a person’s wrongdoings, scripture says, we should clarify directly with that person. And the reason we approach directly is also not to accuse, but to correct and help them. Rather, if we keep accusing and speak evil against someone, God will also judge us accordingly. Hence, let us be careful before judging others. Amen!
