“However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you” (Deuteronomy 28:15)

While reading the scriptures, we often give importance to the blessings, but neglect the curses. In Fact, in the above Deuteronomy chapter, the curses are more, compared to the blessings. Why so much of curses? Because God wants His people to fear Him by obeying His commandments. Only when we obey God, we can be utterly saved. Otherwise, we will live as our fleshly desires, and that fleshly living will lead us to death. Hence, scripture states, ‘the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom’. So, obeying God and keeping His commandments is imperative. Even in the New Testament, there are several warnings. The writers have clearly recorded those warnings, such that we can remain in our faith until the end by obeying God. We will do well, if we go through not just the blessings, but also the warnings. Amen!
