“Jehu said, "Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD." Then he had him ride along in his chariot” (2 Kings 10:16)
Jehu served as a commander in the army of King Ahab. However, Ahab did evil in the eyes of the Lord and so his reign came to an end. Then God sent prophet Elijah to anoint Jehu as the king of Israel and assigned him the task of wiping out the family of Ahab along with the Baal worship. So, Jehu started his campaign and wiped out Ahab’s family and his loyal servants. On his way to Samaria, he met Jehonadab, a servant of the Lord, and said, ‘Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD’. With his zeal, Jehu wiped out the Baal worship as well. But Sadly, Jehu did not continue with this same zeal. Instead, he encouraged people to commit other sins, because of which God’s judgment came upon the nation. Jehu’s life teaches us that, only when we remain zealous and faithful, we will be glorified. Hence, let us be devoted to God until the end. Amen!
