“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9)

There are many Old Testament prophecies which talks about the ‘comings’ of the Messiah. Those prophecies includes both his first and second coming. Hence, many got confused, failing to recognize him during his first visit. But the scripture is very clear! Jesus’ first coming will be lowly and he must suffer and give his life for the mankind. Thus he was born in the manager and lead a humble life. Jesus riding on the donkey symbolized his humility. Finally, as prophesied, he gave his life as a sacrifice and delivered the mankind from the slavery of sin and death. Thus, the hope of resurrection was born. Likewise, many such prophecies were fulfilled in Jesus’ first coming, and there are more which talks about his second coming! On commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, let us be thankful to God for this great ‘wonder’. Amen!
