Quite the read. There seems to be material here for several posts/stories. I do appreciate the insights into recruitment in the bay area.

Takeaways from my recruitment experience:

  1. Don’t let the metrics by which you are measuring candidates become a complete replacement for your gut feeling. Especially if you share the feeling with colleagues.
  2. The more the people who will actually work together with the candidate are involved during recruitment the better. And vice versa.
  3. Recruitment does not necessarily end at “the accept”. I’ve seen good fit candidates lost too quickly and not so good fit candidates remain for too long when there was no follow-up. Both scenarios are quite painful.
