Afro-pop star Davido’s young son has died a week after turning 3.
Lagos, Nigeria, police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed Tuesday to The Times that little Ifeanyi — full name David Ifeanyi Adedeji Adeleke Jr. — drowned around 6 p.m. Monday in the swimming pool at the singer’s Banana Island home.
Neither Davido nor his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, the boy’s mother, have commented yet on the death. Neither parent was home when the boy drowned, but both reportedly were in touch with police Monday night.
This is so surreal and obviously a terrible tragedy that will haunt the Parents. I empathize with Davido and Chioma. My late son was saved from drowning in a similar scenario. What happened? At the end of football season in Vacaville, their coach hosted a barbecue party for the youth team at his backyard which had a pool.

Of course the kids had eaten. It was time to swim and play with water guns. I and some of the coaches were in a conversation at another part of the backyard when somebody yelled “Essien is Drowning.” What happened? Son jumped into the pool with the other Kids and because he did not know how to swim well was seen flailing under the pool in the throes of drowning. He was saved by a teen in attendance. Was there a heartless pool stage at Wellington Hotel, Warri? Then That is Treasonous. I thank God for the young lady who saved my son in Vacaville because even though the family had a country home (I never spent the night there, only visited with my Mom as a baby) near the Popular Okuaihe River near Benin City I never took swimming lessons. Fortunately a good samaritan, a teen at Vacaville High School, jumped into the pool to the bottom of the pool and emerged with an almost unconscious Essien as this obviously concerned Dad stood at the edge of the pool to pull Essien out of the water. Unfortunately the teen jumped into the water fully clothed with her phone. Of course this happy father replaced her damaged phone and wrist watch (I paid for them) This incident was two years before another incident with brown wood in 2013, obviously not from me, that sent Essien into a depression spiral and in the end with the wrong company which is how he was murdered in 2018. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I and Essien’s White Uncle and older brother’s godfather Bruce Dereschuk recalled the pool mishap at my birthday celebration in Vacaville and of course we joked about draining the swamp of snakes not knowing that Essien was about to be murdered.

So the traumatic irony is that Essien was saved from drowning in water only to be sent into a death spiral from a secret DNA experiment with his blood from a jab with wood, which I think was secretly conducted with water and thermal transfer in the bathroom at 2018 Pine Bluff, almost twenty years after a similar thermal transfer was conducted with our biological son’s frozen placentia in a Fortune 500 lab in Vacaville while we were in Nigeria on vacation with GrandMa. On hindsight If there was a sexual misdemeanor at the polygamous Family Home near the Okuaihe River. I have no idea.
