The official results showed there were 260, 409 Vote By Mail Ballots Issued and 112, 378 Vote By Mail Ballots Processed and 18141 In Person Ballots Cast across Solano.

The other key result in Dixon was a come from behind squeaker in the Council Member District 2 contest between Scott Pederson and Thom Bogue who served alongside former Mayor Jack Batchelor from 2010. Bogue beat incumbent Pederson with 536 ballots for a return to serve the people of Dixon.

Nothing changed in the final count for District 1 where Jim Ernst (with 995 votes) cruised to a win over former Council Member and Independent Voice Op-Ed Writer Michael Ceremello with 496 votes.

Sole contestant Kristin Janisch was a shoo-in for City Clerk with 4610 Votes.

Measure D did not pass the litmus test with 3412 No and 2674 Yes Votes.

In the other contest that impacts Dixon politically and infrastructurally, Suisun City Council Member Wanda Williams outlasted Fairfield Council Member Chuck Timm and will assume the Solano County Board of Supervisors District 3 Position in the next term.

Williams was interviewed by the Dixon Tribune before the elections.

Our interview started with a talk about safety especially with recent concerns about budget deficits hampering Fire and Police departments across the County. Wanda, who moved to Solano from Richmond, Contra Costa County in 1995, told this reporter that this will be a priority if elected. “We are on the right track. I can rest well now with the knowledge that the response time for emergencies from our local firemen, EMTs and Police has improved,” said the proud mother of four children.

We need a Solano County Supervisor who will put people first and that’s why I am in your neighborhood to canvas, said Wanda who is also a Project Manager for Solano Land Trust where I once interviewed for a Communications Position. https://solanolandtrust.org/

In addition to Safety Matters Wanda’s Priority when she assumes office include

  • Addressing homelessness crisis in the County;
  • Increasing workforce and affordable housing for seniors and working families;
  • Expanding broadband Internet in rural and underserved areas;
  • Supporting businesses that provide good-paying jobs in Solano County.
  • Protecting and preserving the County’s open spaces, agriculture, and Travis Air Force Base.

She was particularly serious about affordable homes for seniors and said she will work with the construction industry to ameliorate the situation in Solano. “ I met with the Carpenters Union in Vallejo and was impressed with how quickly they can assemble homes. I will ensure that good businesses are attracted to Solano to improve the home market and economy of our County,” she emphasized in the Fairfield interview.

On homelessness, Wanda said she empathizes with people facing such a crisis because she has been there. “In one year I lived in four different places and it took me a while to get back on my feet.” She used the analogy of a broken leg to describe the problem. I smiled knowingly with the recall that I was once hobbled by a broken leg for four months in Calabar, Cross River State in 2014. I suffered a fracture of my fifth metatarsal after I fell into the ditch at the headquarters of the Nigeria Union Of Journalist. The Van driver was Eyobong Ita, President of the Howard University based African Association of Journalists in America. We were in Nigeria as Volunteers to monitor the 2015 President Elections with President Jimmy Carter.

She told this reporter that her focus is on Quality of Life matters that will ensure improvement for all. “I just enjoy service,” she said. https://www.electwandawilliams.com/
