County Supervisors yesterday approved the Notice of completion of the reconstruction of Nut Tree Airport’s Northeast Apron and Taxilane Reconstruction at their first session of the year. Nut Tree Airport, which has operated since 1955, is a general aviation (GA) airport located in Vacaville CA roughly halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento. On the approach to the Airport runway from the East are Genentech, State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF) and Kaiser Hospital and from the west the main town.
The Airport is located on the I-80 corridor and has easy access to both Interstates 80 and 505. Vacaville and the Airport is a major attraction for travelers visiting the SF Bay Area, the Napa Valley, the Capitol and South Lake Tahoe. The Airport is located within a locally known micro-climate between the SF Bay Area marine environment and the CA Central Valley region due to south/south-west air currents. The Airport boasts only a limited number of flight days each year that are obscured by weather.
The Airport consists of 286 acres and receives approximately 102,700 aircraft operations each year. The Airport is home to 201 based aircraft and has 117 hangars and other various commercial office spaces. The Airport’s 4,700 foot long runway can accommodate a variety of aircraft from single engine to twins to small/medium sized business jets.
The airport is currently owned and operated by Solano County and is a division of the General Services Department.
The highlight of yesterday’s session was the Oath of Office for newly elected Solano County Supervisor Wanda Williams, District 3.
