Tomorrow Local Volunteers will fan out across the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon to place a wreath on each grave in a symbolic gesture to remind all that honor for our dead warriors is crucial to the health and well being of the living.
After a pause from Coronavirus the event which has been an annual event since 2009 will be celebrated with splendor on Saturday with local politicians in attendance. Two family members and brother in laws WD Robinson and Earsell Mackbee, A Utah State University product who served the US Air Force in Morocco and played on the 1969 Minnesota Vikings Championship team, are buried there as well.

Local Wreaths Across America coordinator and member Civil Air Patrol at Travis Air Force Base, Major Josephine Nash in an interview with the Dixon Tribune, said the event is an opportunity to develop leadership skills such as self-respect and respect for others among local students who will help with the wreaths placement on Saturday.
She said local youth who volunteer for the program are trained in other areas such as AeroSpace Education and Emergency Services.
The Local Chapter of Wreaths Across America is based out of Travis under the Civil Air Patrol Group.
“Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 3,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad,” said a statement from the group’s web site.
