Concentrate on your users, audience, customers, fans. Figure out what they want. Develop a deep connection with them. Build trust.

This is really the core, for me. Solving the user experience is the only really important thing, the rest will come ONLY IF you solve core problems of a user. Later on it may become important to think about competitive positioning and everything else, but none of it matters if your product isn’t solving real problems.
And of course once you have built real solutions for real problems, you will eventually realize that many of the people you thought you were competing with weren’t solving anything real, and are left in your dust without you even thinking about them.
