How Are You?

“I’m good”

This response could be so much better and yet I’m just as guilty of using it as the next person. Conversations depend on the participation of every member. “I’m good” just doesn’t provide anything meaningful for another person to work with. Busy week? Tired lately? Enjoying life? How’s work?

I’m in the process of changing how I respond to this question, and I challenge you to do the same. It only takes a few extra moments of thought. To find my own response I answer two questions in three words or less. How am I feeling? Why do I feel this way?

“Great! Life is interesting.” or “Could be better, work is rough.” are great examples.

These responses provide a little more insight and a potential new direction for the conversation to flow. It’ll be a great day when this small change leads to something meaningful. Until then, I’ll keep putting myself out there.

So how am I doing you ask?

…I’m good ;)
