I spoke with my Iraqi friend today about the attack.

Do violent Christians — the ones who firebomb black churches — have switches, too? And the leftist terrorists of the ‘70s? It’s difficult to think of an ideology that hasn’t been invoked by terrorists. So why is Islam the only one that seems inherently violent to you? Look at the fundamentalist propoganda. It sounds just like any other cult messaging: Target the poor and disaffected, tell them their violence serves a greater good, they’ll be rewarded for their sacrifice, etc. Then toss in eight or nine decades of Western aggression, colonialism and broken promises in their land — you expect them to like us? Blaming only the religion is the easy way out.
