Thank you for sharing. Imho I find that the best generative designers are great programmers. The approach is totally different from the steps a “traditional” designer takes to solve a problem. You must have considerable experience with programming and algorithms implementation in order to produce the most intricate designs.

Very, very few people really connect generative and functional design in their work. The “design” in “generative design” manifests itself most often as a drawing and artistic expression; not so often as a solution to a problem.

The value I find in generative design is the same as you described: improve the understanding of topics of interest in the digital media space.
