The Gift of Life
Many years ago, I’ve encountered life-threatening experiences that made me grateful I’m about to share it with you today. Back in my childhood days, our town was hit by red tide. Families were affected and most of us were rushed to the hospital. I was in the worst condition, 50/50 as they called it back then. But I’m thankful because I recovered from that incident.
On another occasion, after my first job interview back in 2004 I decided to eat at a local fast food chain when suddenly a hostage taking scenario took place. A mad man with a gun took a lady near him and threaten everyone around him with his gun. He was 10–15 meters away from me and I watched how the people around me run for their lives. I was shocked because many times the gun was pointed in our direction. But I’m thankful, I was able to go home that day and watch the incident on TV later that night were two people were killed.
Fast forward today, I’m praying that God forgives me whenever I whine! Whenever I’m tempted to complain or dwell on negative things, I try to look at the beautiful truth — the gift of our existence here on planet earth. Because If we die, our joy, pains, struggles, passion and our love would not matter anymore. As of this writing- at least, I’m not totally afraid to die. I just don’t want to be there when it happens.
