i’m not afraid of them, and i’m 56. i grew up in the 70’s. in some ways i share some things in common with them. as a dumb football lineman and boogie boarder surfer dude in the summer, i never opened a text book in high school. so my GPA in high school was exactly the same as my GPA in college. and neither high school nor college gave me my biggest assets. in California we don’t pay attention to history since we make it. and we pay no heed to geography either as we have no need to travel. it’s the same with these latest generations. they are all essentially surfer dudes. i’ve worked with them. they do have their phones in their noses too much at work. doing it while crossing the street is fine, i do that too. but at work they really cross a line there. however, they are smarter. and faster. so i just don’t complain. i just sort of chuckle to myself about them. they do less work but when they are forced to do it, they do it better and faster. its the forcing that is the issue. the extra half hour lunch and 15 minutes late to work and 15 minutes leaving early from work I just roll with. it’s so easier to just get along with people and take up their slack without complaint. video games are just a new addiction. you can’t blame them for that. addictions are an old thing.
