Why I’m Supporting Hillary Clinton For President

Here’s your mistake: voting for Hillary because she is a powerful public speaker, your role model, and a woman.

There are TONS of women out there who have made differences and inspired other women to be brave and powerful and follow their dreams and stand up for what is right, etc. But I’m not going to choose the leader of my country simply because they’ve made me smile and inspired me to be strong.

There is SO MUCH MORE to running a country than that. It just really seems to me like you’ve not given any of her other characteristics a good thought.

I agree, 100%, that it’s important to tell our daughters, sisters, nieces, granddaughters, etc. that they can do absolutely anything they want in their lives — even be president! However, I disagree that we need to elect a female president right now to begin sending that message.

In fact, we’ve been sending that message for years. It gets stronger and impacts more girls and women every year, too.

Bernie Sanders has so much more to offer for our country and culture than Hillary Clinton does, in whole. In addition, he supports equal human rights and doesn’t characterize them solely as “women’s rights.” Because they’re not women’s rights, they’re human rights. So you don’t have a reason, still, to choose Hillary over Bernie.

I also don’t believe that focusing on the “women” portion of all of this sends the right message anyway; like how continuing to separate dark-skinned people from light-skinned people through scholarships, awards, media channels, etc. continues to promote racism. Same idea goes for women. If we focus on the frivolous, name of something rather than the deep issue, the deep issue will never get resolved.

You want women’s rights to be human’s rights? Stop calling it women’s rights, and don’t choose your president just because she has a vagina like you do.
