Learn With 4 Easy Steps

To throw a screwball in a Wiffle ball, you’ll need a Wiffle ball and a Wiffle ball bat or a plastic bat. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Hold the Wiffle ball with your fingers. Place your middle finger across the top seam and your index finger on the bottom seam.
  2. Place your thumb on the back of the ball, with your fingers on the front.
  3. As you wind up to throw, rotate your wrist so that your palm faces downward. This will cause the ball to rotate as it travels through the air, creating the screwball effect.
  4. Release the ball by snapping your wrist forward and releasing it with your fingers.
  5. The key to throwing a good screwball is to release the ball with your fingers while your wrist is still in motion. This will cause the ball to spin and move in a screwball motion.
  6. Practice throwing the screwball at different speeds and with different amounts of spin to see what works best for you.

Note: The screwball is a tricky pitch to throw and can take some practice to master. It’s also important to note that since Wiffle balls are lightweight, they may not generate the same movement as a real baseball screwball. But it’s still fun to throw and could surprise the batter.
