Let’s get started if you’re excited to discover Bleu de Chanel EDP.

QUICK SUMMARY

  • Based on citrus, woody, and amber accords.
  • Has above-average longevity and projection.
  • Attracts a lot of attention and is highly complimented.
  • Highly rated by the public.
  • All-season and occasion wear.

WHAT DOES BLEU DE CHANEL EDP SMELL LIKE?

The opening is extremely well-blended, with the largest emphasis on fresh accords. In the background are faint wafts of citruses and spices. However, they are light and only play into the larger freshness.

As the scent develops, it becomes warmer and rounder. The warmth is coming from the amber and woods peaking from the base but not yet prominent. The roundness comes from the citruses that have given way to an aromatic accord.

This aromatic accord isn’t as vivid as some, as it has faint floral and fruity accents in the background. Besides the warmth of the perfume, the main emphasis is still on freshness.

The dry-down starts to develop after two hours. The scent still retains its well-rounded nature. The rest of the wear are prominent notes of warm amber and rich woods.

PERFORMANCE

The longevity is above average, lasting 8–10 hours on the skin with good projection. The first 1–2 hours, it pushes out multiple feet. After this period, it recedes closer to the skin.

Another significant aspect of Bleu de Chanel EDP is its versatility and wearability. It works for all seasons or occasions. In any situation, it is never too much or too little.

In terms of a signature scent, Bleu de Chanel EDP will be far from unique. Yet, when Bleu de Chanel was initially released, it was different. It can be debated to have started the blue fragrance genre. Thus, Bleu de Chanel is unique but not special.

Lastly, Bleu de Chanel EDP is a highly likable and complimented fragrance. If that is your goal, this will work perfectly.

Is Bleu de Chanel EDP Worth it?

Yes.

It is an attractive perfume for men and has all the attributes described above. Currently, a 100mL bottle is $145. Yet, the wearability that is offered is second to none.

PRESENTATION

The current bottle I am reviewing is 50mL, bought from Chanel’s official website. The bottle is dark blue with the name on the front. The bottle is transparent but hard to see. The cap is metal and magnetic, with the Chanel logo on the top. It is quite secure, but I wouldn’t recommend lifting it by the cap.

The box is blue/black with the Chanel name and logo on the top and front. The batch code will be on the back of the bottle and the bottom of the box.

HISTORY

Bleu de Chanel EDT came out in 2010 as a Men’s cologne. It was created by Jacques Polge, Chanel’s chief in-house perfumer. If the name sounds familiar, Polge is credited with making almost all of the best Chanel colognes. Though Bleu de Chanel’s History is only a decade old, it has held its stake as the cornerstone of the Chanel house.

After a few years of Bleu de Chanel Eau de Toilette’s success, Chanel released more Bleu de Chanel types. They include the EDP version in 2014 and the Parfum version in 2018.
