The social issue I chose for my project is animal experimentation, or as some would call it, animal testing. This practice had began as early as 500 B.C. and did not gain any real type of awareness until around 1876. Many people believe that animal testing is necessary for the protection of humans when creating things like cosmetics and medicine, for example, but fail to realize just how cruel and dangerous these practices can be. Aside from being unreliable, it puts humans at risk due to the assumption that if it works on animals it would work on us as well. Due to how both animals and humans experience bad side effects from animal testing and sometimes even die, I believe it’s safe to say that animal experimentation should be stopped and more reliable, newer methods be used instead.
