Lori Bumgarner has expressed my dilemma in this statement “. . . folks who are often struggling with the other end of age discrimination. They start to question their value when compared to younger candidates. . .” (2 responses below). I am extremely healthy and energetic — and am able to perform my professional duties of music, teaching, public speaking, etc. almost as well as when young … and with the added wisdom gleaned from many years of experience — but I keep getting “put out to pasture”. Even a University Doctoral candidate wins out over my experienced full Doctorate! I do not feel old in my view of life, but not being able to express the reality of myself does have an aging effect indeed! Thank you for your insightful article and the opportunity to express!
