Very well-thought-out premise clearly and interestingly stated. Many of us have gone through that stage of ‘spiritual but not religious’, mainly because of not being able to believe the dogmas and doctrines of the Christian Church after expanding our spirituality. However, after taking a class in an Episcopal Church on this subject, I accepted the fact of being both quite easily.
BTW I am an ordained minister of Mystic Christianity, which is a church created as a major part of a spiritual organization outside of the mainstream Christian churches, but with a worship service very similar to theirs . . . just with greater depth of content. Mysticism does exist in many churches today, but it stays pretty silent and hidden . . . even among the clergy.
