Thanks, Sean. Something that truly gets to me is the lack of civility by people who comment, for example even in the New York Times, which I would think would have a more educated readership.
But no, the ad hominem attacks are often something to behold. (And then there’s Trump, but I’ll leave him out of this.)
I’m always amazed at the comments on the New York Times, i.e. at how mean-spirited they often are. Specifically, to subjective things like Op-Eds, the “Modern Love” column, or various parenting issues.

Right on! I got so … enraged/depressed/whatever … reading the letters to the editor in the NYT about ***THE MOTHER*** that I just stopped.
Fortunately, there were a few voices of reason who noted how their kids had just slipped away from them and horrible things had happened/almost happened etc.
