Avoiding easy words.

Do you ever find yourself caught up in a conversation with a friend, family member, coworker, spouse – whoever – and an easy word comes out of your mouth just because you don’t know what else to say?

I’m a big user of the word interesting. I try to catch myself every time I use it, do a little self-talk session to remind myself to use smarter words to produce more mindful conversations with those around me. And it’s hard to do sometimes. It’s my easy word.

I hear and read the word awesome quite often, which is supposedly an intensifier word that people are encouraged to avoid using in the workplace; so I’ve read. A stereotypical word that like people overuse and like doesn’t get a lot of like credibility is like. (See what I did there?) It’s a filler word. An easy word to use when emphasizing.

Do you have an easy word? If so, what is it? Is it like totally awesome? How interesting…
