Trust.

It’s the basis of human society, business contracts, secret-sharings, and friendships. With trust, two people can work together toward a common goal. With trust, a patient may allow the surgeon to try to mend a broken, delicate body. With trust, the world can move forward.

Without it, days turn dark. Suspicions gather like storm clouds and rain on newly planted seeds of suspicions. Without it, smiles are forced, and good intentions are made hesitant.

When two strangers meet and become friends, it takes both of them to maintain this trust, but it only takes either one of them to break the growing bond just by blemishing the trust.

Trust is mutual. It is crucial to the survival of friendships, as is many other workings of this world.
