Speaking of Accidental Felons, let’s talk about the Felony Murder Rule — that obscure law that says that if you are part of a felony that results in someone dying, you are guilty of 1st degree murder and automatically sent to prison for life with no chance to ever get out. Doesn’t matter that you never killed anyone, never intended to kill anyone, or even if you were at the scene of the crime. You might have just dropped off a friend at a store to buy something, never knowing that he had a gun or that someone would be killed, you are just as guilty as if you had pulled the trigger. Doesn’t matter if you have a clean record, not even a traffic ticket — you are sent to prison for life with no chance to ever get out. There are tens of thousands of these stories in the USA. No one even knows about the law until they are trapped in it.
