I wish this were true, but I don’t believe it. It is possible to acknowledge trans people experience socialisation as their acquired gender after transitioning at the same time as acknowledging their pre-transition socialisation will have forever affected who they are. I wish I could ignore all the negative aspects of female socialisation I experienced (and still do), but how, when sexism in society has such a powerful affect of people’s understanding of themselves?
