Football (both types) & hockey both have 11 players on each side so here’s 11 reasons to get into sports

1. A lot of these people are actually pretty inspiring.

You might just see them as spoilt, ungrateful millionaires who have life gifted to them but many athletes work hard to make a difference. They dress up and visit the child wards of hospital, set up their own charities and donate their wages to charity. Just remember, you don’t become a professional athlete by sitting on your arse for the first 20 years of your life, these people have put in the hours.

2.You’ll see some amazing things.

Whether it is Lionel Messi scoring a miracle goal in the copa del rey final, Stuart Broad bowling 8–15 or Selena Willams winning another grand slam. Watching sports is mesmerising. You’ll see acts that define gravity and you’ll be left biting nails as you pray your team can secure a win. Sometimes you’ll even see a middle aged man run across the pitch naked to get a photo with their idol🔥👍🏽.

3.They’re a unique social event

Even if you’re not a massive sports fan it is worth attending a live event. There’s nothing quite like hearing tens of thousands of supporters singing YNWA or the exhilaration that runs through the crowd when there team scores. You don’t have to be a big fan to appreciate the atmosphere these events create, embrace the overpriced food & drink and enjoy the experience.

4. There’s a sport for everyone

So maybe football isn’t your thing, ever tried badminton, hockey??? Maybe you don’t think you’re competitive enough for sport so you have never bothered. But there is a sport, that will entice you, whether it is sprinting or triathlons, road cycling or martial arts there’s a discipline for everyone. Try something new, you have nothing to lose and possibly a world of joy to gain.

5. You might find you’re really good at something.

So you’ve found a new sport and who knew, you’re actually very good at it. You might not make it to Rio 2016 but it will provide you with a huge self confidence boost. Practise will only make you better and before long you’ll find yourself playing competitively and maybe even winning a couple of trophies.

6. You won’t be so judgemental of sports fans

We have all seen those people crying at a sport result or shouting uncontrollably at their television when their team loses and thought ‘overdoing it mate’. But once you become hooked on a sport you’ll begin to understand why they’re so passionate. You won’t think they’re stupid when a bad result means they’re in a bad mood for the rest of the day.

7. You’ll make new friends

Trust me, is sports fans come in our millions and we are united in our love of sport. You automatically prefer fellow fans of your beloved team and enjoy talking about your special club. If you’re lucky enough to get involved in a club then you’ll be surrounded by others of all ages and walks of life who share your sports passion. They will become your brothers and sisters.

Competition is exciting and gets the blood flowing

The adrenaline you’ll get from scoring a goal or pulling of a fantastic piece of skill is like nothing else. It is electrifying. It is also good for you. You’ll get fitter, faster and healthier and they come with the benefits of looking better.👀

Big events aren’t everyday

You only get a World Cup or Olympic Games every 4 years so make the most of them! Especially if you get the opportunity to get tickets! They’re a once in a lifetime opportunity.

If nothing else you’ll find a crush

Some of these athletes are VERY aesthetically pleasing.

What’s the harm in trying something new?

Go on, give it a go, you know you want to.
