There are four types of fonts that you will see around and most fonts are the variations of one of these five types.
1. Sans Serif fonts
2. Serif fonts
3. Scripted fonts
4. Decorative fonts

Sans Serif Fonts:
Definition: Sans serif fonts are more popular, simple, and cleaner which is originated in the early 19th century.
Use: Digital Displays, Headings in Newspapers and Magzine.
Examples: Berlin Sans, Brandon Grotesque, Gautami, Bauhaus.
Classification: Grotesque sans serif fonts, Neo-grotesque sans serif fonts, Geometric sans serif fonts, Humanist sans serif fonts.

Serif Fonts:
Definition: Serif fonts are the oldest font types which are originated from Roman carvings.
Use: Books, Newspapers, and Magazines.
Examples: Times New Roman, Garamond, Baskerville, Georgia.
Classification: Old-style serif fonts, Transitional serif fonts, Didone serif fonts, Slab serif fonts.

Script Fonts:
Definition: These fonts areto resemble cursive handwriting and also known as Handwriting fonts.
Use: Invitations, Diplomas, Announcements.
Examples: Pacifico, Lobster, Kaushan Script, Grand Hotel, Windsong. Classification: Formal, Casual, Calligraphic, Blackletter & Lombardic. Brands that use script fonts: Coca-Cola, Instagram, and Cadillac.

Display Fonts:
Definition: Here are the last fonts in our list. Display fonts are also known as decorative fonts.
Use: To capture the attention of the readers.
Examples: Spock, Gilroy, Highbinder Display Font, Requiem Display Font. Classification: Decorative, Grunge, Psychedelic, Graffiti, rust.
Variants: Fonts with shadows and engravings, Fonts where upper and lower case letters are mixed, Distorted fonts, Very light or very bold fonts, Fonts with reverse contrasts, Alphabet redesigns.
