I get the sense that you’re trying to remove the nuance and emotional significance of language. But emotion and nuance are essential to communication. Perspectives and emotional responses change in any group, and language can’t really avoid keeping up. To be effective, to communicate, it’s got to keep up with what people are trying to say. Your comment about normalizing abortion isn’t backed by any evidence, it’s just a strongly held opinion on your part. An inability to distinguish between fact and opinion may very well be a better assessment of what is wrong with the media that your confusion between mores and rules.
