Our bodies cannot function much longer than three days without water. We need a continual supply of it to survive. Ideally, drinking small amounts of water regularly is best. If not, we easily get dehydrated. For optimal health, it’s also best to consume the cleanest and freshest water possible. Building and sustaining a relationship with God is much the same.
He will drink from a brook along the way, and so he will lift his head high. (Psalm 110:7, NIV)
Dehydration damages the body, causes headaches and joint pain, and can negatively affect our mood, digestion, and energy levels. Chronic…
I take part in an online Bible study with five other women. We take time out of our busy schedules each week to meet on Zoom for 75 minutes. We each come from different regions in Canada and the US, but distance is no barrier to God.
In last weeks’ session God showed us how faithful He is when we diligently seek Him. Let me share our story with you. May it bless you as it blessed each of us.
Our group consists of women from different age groups, and varying socioeconomic status’ and vocations. …
I was running as fast as I could. All I knew was that something or someone extremely dangerous was chasing me, literally biting at my heels. There was no time to turn around to see what was behind me. I knew I was running for my life. The chase seemed to last forever as I dodged rocks and tree branches to keep just ahead of my pursuer.
Suddenly I saw a light in the distance and I pushed myself to run faster. It was the porch light from a secluded farmhouse. I approached the house as I screamed for help…
Differences in upbringing and experience, not to mention our unique genetic makeup, make getting along with others difficult and challenging. If we’re not careful, our words and actions can inevitably alienate us, hurt others, and destroy our chances of fostering trusting and loving relationships with others. Managing conflict is not easy so if you feel alone and fed up with trying, read on, there is hope!
Managing conflict becomes easier when we understand and learn to address the main cause of why disagreements get so out of control in the first place. The reason…
Anger is an emotion that most…
There is no power on earth stronger than love. We’ve all heard of the great and wonderful feats accomplished in its name; lives saved with a touch and a few kind words, relationships restored through mutual respect, perseverance and hope, selfless and humble acts performed by others that rebuild our faith and trust.
Alternatively, we can’t ignore the destructive potential of love when it goes bad; lives destroyed by rage and jealousy, hearts broken by selfish and hurtful acts, trust shattered because of deceit and hypocrisy.
“For love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as the grave; Its…
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1, KJV)
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. …
I record five things each day that I’m grateful for. I began making this list a number of months ago after taking part in a Bible study titled One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. Developing an attitude of gratitude has many healthy side-effects. Being intentionally grateful first thing in the morning sets the tone for my day, shifts my focus from negative to positive, and hones my ability to see things differently. What we feed our minds, the thoughts and ideas we chose to focus on, can transform our lives in amazing ways. …
For most of my life, I walked alone, lonely, judged, and defined by my behavior. Our world can be a vicious place when we are separated from God. I bought into the lies that kept me coordained off from others. No wonder I felt alone. But I wasn’t alone. One day I was given a seed and things were never going to be the same again.
I can relate to the woman at the well in John 4:1–42. She was a woman doing what she felt she had to do to survive. Then one day she found herself in the…
