22 Days to Go: Turning 50! 50 GlowTips I’m sharing to Spread the Glow!
22 Days to go until I turn 50! So I’ve decided to share 50 GlowTips to Get Your Glow ON — one per day, in no particular order of importance and just as they come to me…
And here’s GlowTip 29: Forget about banging your head against a brick wall. Find the open door!
Sometimes it happens instantly — and that’s fabbydab! But most of the time, we’ve got show up persistently and tenaciously to achieve what we want. And often, that means doing things differently and finding new ways to get there.
I’ve worked with people whose commitment to their goals is admirable. But they’re going nowhere fast. Because although they’re out there, showing up persistently — they keep doing things the same old way that hasn’t ever worked for them before!
If something’s clearly not working, after several attempts — it doesn’t help to keep doing the same old same old, in the hope that this time, things will change. Because ‘things’ only change, when we change!
Being persistent doesn’t mean you’ve got to keep banging your head against a brick wall. You’ll only give yourself a headache!
Sure, you can wear a crash helmet and force yourself to keep going…(but really, who wants to spend all their energy going nowhere?!)
Or — you can give up what’s not working for you and make a new plan, Fran!
Why limit ourselves, by creating our own brick walls? Yes, it’s important to focus intently on what we want. But that doesn’t mean having tunnel vision. We don’t need to get stuck in one way of thinking. What about all the Good Stuff that’s outside the tunnel?
It always helps to expand our perspective. Try looking at things from another point of view. Contemplate new possibilities and explore new ideas. Try a different approach and you’ll create new opportunities!
There is always more than one way to get where you’re going. So keep trying until you find one that works for you.
I don’t believe in trying to bash down walls. Because wearing a crash helmet only gives you a Bad Hair day. I prefer to find the open door and sashay through!
