33 Days to Go: Turning 50! 50 GlowTips I’m sharing to Spread the Glow!
33 Days to go until I turn 50! So I’ve decided to share 50 GlowTips to Get Your Glow ON — one per day, in no particular order of importance and just as they come to me…
And here’s GlowTip 18: The smallest things, when given with Love, are often the most meaningful.
The smallest things, given with Love, are far more meaningful than any expensive gifts that are given out of obligation, or with resentment.
Recently I was given a gift of an expensive designer handbag. Unfortunately, the manner in which it was given made me feel horrible. Every time I think of it, it still makes me feel the same way.
The giver (a close family member) firstly almost threw it at me, and then couldn’t stop telling me how much it cost! Not in a bragging way, but more in a “look how much money I’ve spent on undeserving you” kind of way. And all I wanted to do was give it straight back! But that would have caused more resentment.
Designer handbags, expensive jewellery and anything else that is given out of duty and obligation — and not with Love, will never be an UPlifting exchange of energy.
But a flower picked and given to us by a child, or the smallest thing, whatever it may be — even just a Hug — that is given freely with Love, will always UPlift both the giver and the receiver.
When I was in junior school in the early 1970s, all little girls had to learn ‘needlework’. We all had to have a sewing basket, scissors, needles and thread.
And I still have the sewing basket my Mum gave me when I was 7. It’s 43 years old!
I love the fact, that she took a pincushion from a box of pins, covered it in pink silk, and glued it on the lid for me. How thoughtful!
I’ve still got all the needles, cottons and the original pair of scissors she included in the box. And I use them whenever I need to do a quick (if rather unprofessional) repair!
For me, the best part about my little sewing basket — is that my Mum put it together for me with care and Love. And every time I use it, I’m reminded of that.
Gifts that are given from the heart don’t have to be big or expensive. Because whatever is given with Love lets us know we are appreciated and Spreads the Glow!
