Moving valuables internationally is a serious endeavor.

Hire a good moving company

The most important thing is to hire a good moving company that is going to take care of relocating your belongings. Transparent International NYC is a great example of such a company. If you end up hiring a moving company that doesn’t have a lot of experience with international moves you could end up having a very stressful relocation. And that is definitely something you don’t want to experience when moving long distances. You will need a moving company even if you don’t have any valuable items.

Which items are considered valuable items?

Not a lot of people know which items are considered valuable in the moving world. Sure, your furniture is valuable to you but it isn’t a valuable item. Valuable items are musical instruments, boats, art, etc. Things that not a lot of people own in their homes are valuable items. If you need your art collection packed and moved, you need to treat it as a valuable item. This also means taking some extra measures when packing these items.

How to pack valuable items?

A lot of people struggle with packing valuable items because they aren’t sure how to protect them. That is why a lot of the times people end up having their valuable items broken. If you don’t want this to happen to you, use my tips for packing valuable items.

  1. Get the necessary supplies. — The first step to protecting your valuable items is to get the necessary packing supplies. As your belongings will be shipped inside of a shipping container to the destination country, using cardboard boxes is not something I recommend doing. Finding plastic boxes that are able to fit your valuable items is the best thing you can do. Luckily, we live in a day and age where finding these things is very easy.
  2. Secure your items. — Just packing your items into plastic or cardboard boxes isn’t enough. You have to also protect your items. Use bubble pack, wrapping paper, packing peanuts. You should also use some blankets, towels, sheets, etc. Anything that is going to keep your items away from damage is what you should use. Remember that even if you are moving on a budget, you shouldn’t try to save some money when it comes to keeping your valuables safe.
